At Out & About Clothing we pride ourselves on the quality of our tops and our Australian Made status! Out & About rugby’s are ‘made different’ to most other rugby jumpers within the industry and in the brief blog below I will outline what makes us different!
Unlike a typical production house, our small team of sewers are schooled in all facets of the production process which means that each of them has an appreciation for how the whole top comes together. Every cut, stitch and button is carefully placed ensuring the consistency of our product, which ultimately creates satisfaction for the maker and the wearer.
The wash
Before our cutting even takes place, all our fabric is prewashed which ensures that the garment will not shrink once it is purchased and washed by the consumer. This process also takes care of any additional dye in the new fabric and makes certain that colours will not run or bleed during further washes.
The pattern
Each top starts out from a paper pattern where by any adjustments or customer requests are taken into account before the garment is cut. Each ordered garment it labelled with size, the customer’s name and any other notes that the sewers will need to know to ensure that the top is specifically make to each customer’s individual requirements.
Production
We aim to have each sewer equipped with skills to complete all aspects of the sewing of our tops. Each top moves several times between the over locker and the straight stitch machine during the production process. Each stitch is meticulously reviewed to ensure our sewing is of the highest standard. The button holes are then sewn and cut, the buttons added and then the top is pressed, folded, packaged and posted to you.
Out & About Clothing is Australian Made, offers more that 450 colour combinations of rugby tops and prides itself on top quality garments all the while running its production house from a small South Australian country town with a population of just 1200 people.
Gotta love small business!
