Choose carefully……You’re going to get sick of them before they wear out!

October 25, 2016

With a few simple tips your favorite Out & About rugby will last and last.  When you pay good money for an item of clothing I know that you want it to last for a long time and look fresh for more than just one season.  Read on to discover just what I do to my own Out & About rugby’s to make them look like new for longer……..

The sun!  It is lovely and we all enjoy being out in it, but the sun will fade your favorite rugby quicker than any other means.  I wash all my garments inside out and hang them on the wash line inside out.  If you can hang them in the shade while they dry it will also help safeguard your rugby from the harmful UV rays of the sun that will damage and fade our clothing.  (I know some of you have told me that you treasure them and only ever hang them inside to dry – this is perfect).  Also the less time spent hanging on the line the better; Best not to hang out your prize rugby in the morning before you head off to work and only remove it at the end of the day when you return home.

Wash your rugby only as often as it really needs it.  I will often wear my rugby for a few times before washing it – provided of course I do not dribble my lunch on it or get any visibly dirty marks; Always tricky too if you have a white collar and wear make up.  But at least try to reduce washing after each wearing.  Often a quick airing will be fine between wearings.

Darker colours will fade quicker than lighter colours and unfortunately there is nothing you can do about this.  At Out & About Clothing, we do choose quality fabrics however that will help you to get the most out of your rugby.

Wash colours carefully.  Remember to take note of the collar colour on your rugby,  If you have a navy rugby with a gorgeous patterned or plain collar which is predominantly white, do not wash this with all your other dark items.  Those dark jeans may be enough to make that white collar loose it’s brightness and that stark contrast that first drew you to love this combination in the first place.

Do not tumble dry your rugby & do not soak.

By following these tips combined with my promise to only provide you with the best quality fabrics and you’ll know that your purchase from Out & About Clothing will last and you’ll be receiving compliments for many seasons!
